Retired Bishops William Hutchinson and Dan Solomon are being recommended as interim co-leaders of the Northwest Texas/New Mexico Area. They will fill the vacancy created when the South Central Jurisdictional Conference retired Bishop Earl Bledsoe involuntarily.
San Antonio Area Bishop James Dorff announced the recommendation of the South Central College of Bishops on July 21, just before the Service of Consecration in Oklahoma City. The college’s recommendation is subject to review and confirmation by the Council of Bishops. That is expected to occur within the next 10 days.
Hutchinson is retiring this year after serving the Louisiana Area since 2000. He grew up in New Mexico and was a member of the New Mexico Annual Conference prior to his election.
Solomon, who retired in 2000, lives in Abilene, Texas, in the Northwest Texas Conference.
